Teaching Staff

All 45+ Morris Allen teachers are trained native English speakers. They are selected based on their dedication, passion and qualifications as English specialists and all are registered with the Ministry of Education to teach the English language.

W. John Bartley
Academic Director

John began his teaching career in U.K. near London. He taught in California and returned to England and became a Deputy, then Acting, Head Teacher.

He arrived in Singapore in 1987 to work in an international school for 2 years. In 1996 he joined MAE and was A.D. at both Katong and Tampines branches before moving to Simei Branch. John manages Quality Control (ISO) across all branches and has a very good knowledge of what students require with their English.

As the most experienced MAE teacher, there is a strong demand for his classes.

Ayesha Baumgart
Deputy Academic Director

Ayesha taught primary and secondary schools in New Zealand and the Maldive Islands. She is trained in Reading Recovery and has taught students ranging from 5-year-olds to UK 'A' level entrants.

She interacts warmly with students at MAE and always creates a motivating and happy ambience for the young inquisitive minds.

Pamela Mason

Pamela is from Australia, where she began her teaching career. She spent 12 years teaching in Papua New Guinea before returning to Australia to work as a Special Needs teacher and teach English to Overseas Officers.

Now in her tenth year with MAE, Pam's in-depth knowledge of the local curriculum and caring nature make her one of our most popular teachers.

Maria McRae

Maria is an Australian teacher with more than 30 years of experience teaching pre-school and primary students. She enjoyed a short time teaching in the UK and, having travelled to Asia a number of times before joining MAE in 2010.

Maria is very patient and caring teacher who enjoys applying her extensive skills to developing the English skills of students in Singapore.

Judith MacMillan

Judith comes is an experienced Australian teacher who has spent a great deal of time teaching in Asia during the past eight years, including two years previously at our Morris Allen Simei branch. She has a good understanding of the Singapore curriculum and her gentle and caring nature makes her very popular and effective with students.

Margaret Oates

Margaret comes to MAE after 15 years teaching in a prestigious private school in Australia. Having enjoyed extensive travel throughout Asia, she has recently undertaken extra studies in teaching English to foreign students and tutored a number of Asian students. She is very keen to apply her knowledge and skills in Singapore.

 

Robert McRae

Robert comes to MAE from New South Wales, Australia, where he has had more than 30 years teaching experience, including 20 years as a school Principal.

He enjoyed a short time teaching in the UK and, having travelled to Asia with his wife Maria a number of times, is looking forward to teaching in Singapore. Students will greatly benefit from his wealth of experience and his friendly nature.
